Gorgeous and rare Alberta Ferretti late 1990s/early 2000s long bias cut slip dress in light grey colour. The silhouette fits perfectly on the body, the material falls tightly and creates a lengthening silhouette. Made in Italy. The label with the brand name fell off and was lost by the previous owner (but brand's internal tag has been preserved, see photo). The dress was very long, so we shortened it.
The bias cut is a dressmaking technique where fabric is cut at a 45-degree angle to the weave, rather than the straight or cross-grain, to exploit the fabric's natural stretch and fluidity. This diagonal cutting allows the material to drape smoothly and hug the body's curves, resulting in a more flattering and often "slinky" silhouette.
