1940s Spencer rare 7 girdle rows corset skirt

A unique and rare Spencer long corset skirt with seven rows (!) of girdle. Truly a museum find! Made of thick cotton with internal support (you can remove the inner inserts yourself if you find them uncomfortable). It creates a beautiful silhouette – the waist flows smoothly into the hips. Six suspenders (all in working order). The seventh girdle can be fastened around the hips or tied at the waist. The corset was taken in by a seamstress to fit a size smaller. Made in the USA. Circa 1940s.

The Spencer Corset Company was a major 20th-century foundation garment brand famous for its custom-made, direct-to-consumer sales model. Founded in the United States by the Berger Brothers, it expanded internationally in 1926 by opening a massive factory in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Unlike off-the-rack brands, Spencer entirely bypassed traditional retail stores, employing thousands of door-to-door female agents known as "corsetieres" to fit women in their own homes.
