Alberto Aspesi 1990s silk bias-cut dress

A rare dress from an Italian brand Alberto Aspesi, circa 1992-1995. Our favourite bias-cut silhouette. Two layers of delicate fabric, the top layer is tonal paisley/jacquard-like pure silk, the bottom layer is viscose + mix. The sleeves were hand-shortened from the inside and picked up with thread. We unraveled them to create a longer, more delicate sleeve (we can also hem them by hand if desired). Made in Italy.

ASPESI is an Italian clothing brand that is minimalist, sophisticated, and timeless. Founded in 1969 by Alberto Aspesi as a shirt manufacturer, over the years it has become a reference point for ready-to-wear for men and women.

The bias cut is a dressmaking technique where fabric is cut at a 45-degree angle to the weave, rather than the straight or cross-grain, to exploit the fabric's natural stretch and fluidity. This diagonal cutting allows the material to drape smoothly and hug the body's curves, resulting in a more flattering and often "slinky" silhouette.

good vintage condition, there are some small snags in the fabric (not noticeable)
